📣 PSA for BC homeowners

As of August 1, new consumer protection laws are in effect in British Columbia.

If someone knocks on your door trying to sell you a heat pump, furnace, air conditioner, or other qualifying HVAC products or services, that's now prohibited under BC's new consumer protection rules. These changes are designed to protect homeowners from high-pressure sales tactics.

Before hiring any contractor:
✔️ Do your research.
✔️ Make sure they're properly licensed. (If you're in the Town of Lake Cowichan, you can verify a business licence here: https://www.town.lakecowichan.bc.ca/dl/Directory.pdf.)
✔️ If you're planning to apply for rebates, ensure the contractor is a registered Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) member, as this is required for many BC heat pump rebate programs.
