But they turned out to be a pretty good fit for Casino Night at EFMA. 🎲♠️🎰

Two sides of the same ceiling. Two very different conditions.

The textured material visible here is ACM spray fireproofing, commonly found throughout older industrial and commercial buildings and structures.

One section remains intact. The other has already undergone removal.

Knowing what’s in your facility or project space is a critical first step before any renovation, maintenance, or demolition work begins.

Not every hazardous materials removal project requires a full room enclosure.

In some situations, glove bag methods can be used as a controlled removal technique for smaller, isolated materials or components.

These systems create a contained workspace around the material itself, allowing removal work to happen within a sealed environment designed for controlled handling and cleanup.

The setup may look compact, but there’s a lot happening within that controlled space.

One of the biggest misconceptions about asbestos is that it only exists inside old buildings.

In reality, ACMs are still regularly uncovered in excavation sites, utility corridors, buried infrastructure, mechanical systems, flooring assemblies, ceiling systems, and more throughout British Columbia.

Materials that seem harmless may still contain asbestos, which is why sampling and proper assessment remain an important part of construction and demolition planning throughout BC.

Asbestos removal in BC requires WorkSafeBC licensing. ProActive Hazmat & Environmental is licensed to perform asbestos abatement work throughout British Columbia and equipped to handle it the right way.

Behind setups like these is a lot of planning around airflow, access, occupant safety, dust control, and keeping surrounding operations protected while work moves forward.

In environments where people, patients, staff, and critical operations are nearby, the details matter.

With the CHES BC Chapter Conference quickly approaching, it’s a good reminder that infection prevention and construction planning often go hand in hand behind the scenes of facility operations.

We’re looking forward to connecting with facilities professionals and industry partners at this year’s conference.
