When we took on the Cold Lake Water Treatment Plant, we weren't just building a structure; we were engineering a solution for one of Canada's harshest climates.

Here’s a look at the technical specifications that made this build possible:

1. Premium White Finish System: The client specified a premium white finish instead of standard grey primer. This wasn't just for aesthetics it provides superior corrosion resistance and thermal performance in extreme temperature fluctuations.

2. Engineered for Extreme Cold: All structural steel and cladding were specified to maintain integrity and performance at -50°C. This includes accounting for thermal expansion/contraction and ensuring no material becomes brittle.

3. Logistical Mastery: With road closures and transport shutdowns, our project management team had to engineer a supply chain solution to get materials from Utah to Edmonton during the holidays, navigating icy, impassable roads.

4. Wind Load Calculations: The site's exposure required structural calculations that could withstand extreme wind gusts, forcing temporary shutdowns for safety but never compromising the final build's integrity.

Summer build turned winter build. We adapted. ❄️
Fort McKay, Alberta doesn't mess around. This is the MSF building and wash bay we completed for Imperial Oil—maintenance, admin, and warehouse space built to handle the extreme cold that region throws at you.

The plan? Summer construction. The reality? Winter ex*****on.

Our PM Mike and the crew worked with Graham Construction and Sapphire Steel to get both structures up despite the conditions shifting on us.

This pre-engineered metal building project pushed every limit. -30°C base temperatures dropping to -50°C with wind chill. Road closures from extreme weather that made material delivery a constant challenge. Our structural steel had to be shipped from Utah all the way to Edmonton during Christmas navigating icy roads that shut down most transport.

The client specified a premium white finish system instead of standard grey primer. Elevating this facility beyond typical industrial standards. Site access was complex, wind conditions forced temporary shutdowns for safety, but our team's expertise in challenging environments kept the project moving forward.

Not every project pushes your team the same way. This one pushes harder.

We're supplying 6 non-process support buildings for Woodfibre LNG in Howe Sound, BC. One of the most environmentally accountable industrial projects in Canada. The facility is designed to be the world's first net-zero LNG export facility, with the Squamish Nation serving as both a project partner and environmental regulator.

Here's what makes this scope unique:

The buildings: administration, warehouse, controls, instrument air, vehicle storage, and chemical storage are built to perform in a demanding coastal environment. Our steel is engineered to stand up to the corrosive conditions of life on Howe Sound.

The site is tight. Access is by water only. Every delivery, every decision has to account for that.
