A planting progress report from ADM Account Manager, Mark Symington:
"Around Lloydminster, Alberta, seeding progress has improved over the last week as more favorable weather conditions have returned. The majority of the cereal and pulse crops are completed, and producers have now shifted their focus to seeding canola. While overall seeding progress is behind the average, producers continue to make good progress on canola. Moisture conditions are decent, and producers are happy to be seeding into moisture. With the warm temperatures we are experiencing this week, we should see accelerated germination and emergence of the crops.

Overall, seeding progress currently places canola at 60%–65% for the area. By the coming weekend, we could see that number rise to 85%–90%. There is currently a rain event in the forecast for this weekend, so producers will be trying to finish, or complete as much work as possible, before then. The northwest Lloyd area is likely the furthest behind, at only 30%–35% complete, with very little canola seeded. If the forecast for the weekend holds true for that area, we will likely see seeding extend past the first week of June."

Last week, the Lloydminster Exhibition Association hosted Ag Ed Day, and was proud to be part of it!

Some of our team members had the opportunity to teach grain safety to more than 1,200 Grade 1 and 2 students from across the area—sparking great conversations and sharing important lessons in a fun, engaging way.

We’re grateful for the chance to support events like this and help build awareness with the next generation.
