Well the saga of the Future Buildings has come to an end, house is sold and I’m emptying the Quonset and returning back to the United Kingdom!

Pretty sure the new owner is going to curse the thing as I did 😀

Reinstalled the ceiling fan that when the building collapsed it badly scratched the roof off the one of the restored classic cars - No thanks to Future Buildings (Car will need a complete repaint), but at least I’d saved the fan and remounted it today in the rebuilt 14 arch building- Yup ended up losing 32 feet of the building I paid more for than if I knew what I know now could have been done with 2x6 rough cut three frames 20x10 apiece and swung in trusses and boarded and sided with a sheet metal roof - Then it would be an easy insulation installation.

So currently it’s using 30litres of propane a day and the fan at least is distributing the rising air and cutting down the water drops that accumulates.

Catching up with the updates - Endwall is completed, up over door in place along with opener, and all track suspension angle fitted, thermostat installed to furnace and moved a lot of lighting around. the outside pad all the cars are bagged up for winter at least on concrete so away from grass and rodents.

Soon I’ll be framing the transport trailer and connecting wiring and lighting and installation of end window and side aluminum door and frame.

Endwall installed all arches bolted tight, additional lumbar bracing to be installed next week- as will be fitting a 9x7 up and over door to the endwall, lighting to be reworked tomorrow

Granted I didn’t plan for a Half Sized workshop and it’s a bitter consolation to have to be compromised but at least I can work, it was such a wasted opportunity for a company as large as Future Buildings that could have stepped in and “Stood by their product” regardless of perspectives - Sometimes it’s not about holding your ground but “Doing the Right Thing”.

I will never again erect a steel Quonset it has been a nightmare end to end and would have been much easier and cheaper to have erected six 20x10 frames of 2x6 and swung 30 trusses on and close the envelope with sheet wood.

With a lot of assistance from friends finally getting the Quonset closed in for winter, Creative use of a cube trucks liftgate and stepladders it’s almost done - still need to realign some parts but at least it will be useable.

Removing the jagged sections - from severing the collapsed structure in order to bolt up the pieces I was able to save from the collapsed half to make a 30ft long building on a 60ft pad - when you buy. 60ft building you’d expect not to have to spend a year salvaging a collapse.

As the rest ot the summer has been spent dealing with four damaged roofs on restored classic cars and trucks.
