Low, Normal, High, or Post-Disaster/Essential each occupancy classification impacts how a building is designed, performs over time, and meets engineering standards. The rating also significantly affects overall building design and construction requirements.

At Norsteel, we default to a Normal Human Occupancy rating under standard operating conditions. This classification is particularly significant for a wide range of building sizes and applications, supporting safe everyday use while meeting standard building code requirements. Its primary objective is to ensure spaces can comfortably and safely support occupants without compromising health, comfort, or emergency preparedness.

In general, more people = more steel = more cost.
