Great work today with our crew( Steve, Bruce, Mario) pumping concrete into this ICF project with Steve and James of Newfound Forming.
This building is being rebuilt right to the trusses with ICF Insulated Concrete Forms
Building with ICF from the foundation to the roof trusses gives you insulated, steel-reinforced concrete exterior walls throughout the building.
Benefits include:
* Lower heating and cooling costs: continuous insulation reduces heat loss and thermal bridging.
* Greater comfort: fewer drafts and more consistent indoor temperatures.
* Quieter interior: concrete walls reduce outside noise.
* Strength and durability: reinforced concrete provides strong resistance to wind and storms.
* Fire resistance: properly finished ICF wall assemblies offer fire protection, with ratings depending on the complete assembly.
For Newfoundland’s cold, windy climate, the insulation, airtightness and wall strength are particularly useful. Roof insulation, windows, doors and properly designed truss connections are still essential to the building’s overall performance
