Today we poured the footing for a house.
What exactly is a footing?
Think of it as the foundation's foundation. Before we can pour, we have to dig down to the required depth and get below the topsoil to stable ground. The footing is then poured as a wider concrete base that spreads the weight of the house over the soil, giving the foundation a solid place to sit.
Once the footing is ready, we'll build our ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) foundation walls on top.
Most people think of a house as the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. We think about everything that has to happen before you ever get to that pretty stuff!
We're going to document this build from the ground up and share a little education along the way.
If you've ever wondered why building a house takes so long… we're about to show you!
