We've got a busy week in the shop, with plenty of aluminum fabrication underway for the new marina project in Middle Arm.

It's hard to say what's more exciting—the work itself, or the fact that our community will soon have a marina.

Projects like this are our favorite; taking a customer's ideas and sketches and turning it into something real.

Workshop chaos, but the project is coming together!
I have some interesting intentions for the bow setup that I'll share later.
I love working with aluminum. It's so easy to affect change; to add in here, or take away there. Except for spoiling a little of the console paint, I could weld on a new set of brackets for a whole new feature in a less than 10 minutes. That's something you just don't get with glass.

Aluminum Console: Last year I built the rough draft, with no fine finish work. It was a concept, that had to be tested. After a season on the water, I came back this winter to make some changes, improvements, as well as the finish work.
The biggest aesthetic change is the roof line, adding that big valance and grab-handles. I think it looks awesome, but it's also serving to stiffen the whole roof.
I'm going back and forth between TIG on my TIG200, and running the spool gun on my 140MP.

The spool gun is incredibly fast, but the TIG is just so clean!

An aluminum boat console brought plenty of TIG welding!
The structure was coming along nicely at this point.

From nothing, to sketches on paper, to cardboard, to sheet aluminum, and then a fully operational console.
It's a beautiful thing to see a project come to life!
This prototype console is still being modified as time goes on.

It’s been a while since our last update!

Since January, Coastal Service & Fabrication has been open for fabrication work only, with most of our projects this year focused on aluminum.

We’ve had the chance to work on some great stuff, and are thankful for the continued support from our communities.

Over the next while, we’ll be sharing a few of these projects we've had in motion, both for ourselves and our customers.
