Recently, a member of St Barbara's Community Engagement team was pleased to attend the 5th Annual BBQ of the Sheet Harbour Marina Association.

The BBQ was a great opportunity to connect with community members, hear about the Association's ongoing initiatives, and learn more about the important work being done to enhance and promote the Sheet Harbour waterfront. We value opportunities to engage with local organizations and to better understand the priorities and aspirations of the communities where we operate.

The 15-Mile Processing Hub Project’s public comment period closes on July 7th, and we want to hear from the community members, workers, and neighbours who support responsible development in our region.

Last week, the St Barbara Atlantic Team attended the Construction Association of Nova Scotia's (CANS) annual golf tournament as a hole sponsor. The team enjoyed connecting with participants while handing out refreshments and snacks, and the event provided a valuable opportunity to engage with future suppliers, contractors, and others interested in our ongoing projects.

🎓 Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🎓

This graduation season, St Barbara was proud to support students across our local communities by contributing a total of $24,000 to six schools, including 15 graduation bursaries totalling $15,000 to help recognize and support this year's graduates as they take the next step in their journey.

Education, determination, and community are the foundation of a strong future, and we are proud to invest in the next generation of leaders, skilled professionals, and changemakers. We hope these bursaries help recipients pursue their goals with confidence and open the door to new opportunities.

To all graduates, congratulations on this incredible milestone. Your hard work and dedication have brought you to this moment, and we wish you every success as you begin the exciting road ahead. June 21st marks National Indigenous Peoples Day across Canada. Today, we recognize and celebrate the cultures, history, and contributions of the Mi’kmaq and Indigenous Peoples in Nova Scotia and Canada.

We are committed to continuing to learn, listen, and build meaningful relationships as we continue to work in Nova Scotia.

For generations, many Indigenous groups and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on June 21 or around that time of year because of the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.

We were pleased to welcome Don Bureaux, (President & CEO of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce) and Josh Creighton, (Corporate Partnership Specialist, Halifax Chamber of Commerce) to the Touquoy Gold Mine site for a tour and discussion on the future of mining in Nova Scotia. Our Vice President of Atlantic Operations, Andrew Taylor, and Community Engagement Specialist, Wade Tibbo, were glad to join them and provide an update on the Touquoy restart project and its potential impact on the province.

We appreciate Don and Josh taking the time to visit the site and learn more about the project. Building strong relationships with organizations such as the Halifax Chamber of Commerce helps foster meaningful conversations about the opportunities and benefits that responsible resource development can bring to Nova Scotia.

Our St. Barbara Atlantic team was proud to attend the Mining Society of Nova Scotia Annual Conference at Oak Island Resort on June 3rd & 4th, joining a record number of industry leaders, professionals, and stakeholders from across the province.

Over the two-day event, there were presentations and discussions focused on the future of mining in Nova Scotia, emerging opportunities, innovation, and updates on projects happening throughout the province. The conference provided a valuable opportunity to learn, share ideas, and strengthen relationships within the mining community.

Our Vice President of Atlantic Operations provided an update on the Touquoy Gold Mine restart. The presentation highlighted the restart's economic benefits, including the creation of 197 jobs, and its role in supporting local communities and Nova Scotia's growing mining sector.
