The NSMTC is supporting a new regional energy report focused on strengthening Atlantic Canada’s energy future. Developed by the Atlantic Energy Collective, the report looks at how Atlantic Canada can work together on energy planning.

Sable Island goes solar. The Sable Island National Park Reserve, located off the coast of Nova Scotia, is known for its wild horses and is now introducing solar farms. A $ 5 million microgrid featuring solar panels, a battery, and two variable-speed diesel generators will replace the always-on generator that scientists and staff currently rely on, reducing on-site emissions by at least half. A Canadian entrepreneur has taken an extraordinary step to fight homelessness in his community. According to Good News Network, Marcel LeBrun, a millionaire from Fredericton, New Brunswick, invested four million dollars of his own money to build a neighborhood of tiny homes for people without stable housing. His project, called 12 Neighbours, aims to create 99 fully equipped homes along with an enterprise center that provides jobs and training for residents.
