Student housing: the open window problem.
Winter is almost here. The heat is on full, and the window is wide open.
Every student housing manager knows this scene. Students control comfort the simplest way they can, and the building pays for it all season long.
Signs, reminders and room inspections rarely change the habit. Automation does.
Window and door contacts detect when a window is open and pause heating in that room. When the window closes, comfort comes back on its own. No warnings to send, no rules to enforce, and residents stay in control of fresh air.
The result: less wasted energy, fewer overheated rooms, and a building that runs efficiently without policing anyone.
