Nous sommes heureux de vous présenter Valérie Roy, notre nouvelle agente de liaison.

Originaire de Lebel-sur-Quévillon, Valérie connaît bien la réalité du territoire et les gens qui y vivent. Son parcours comme opératrice, agente de développement communautaire et pompière volontaire lui a permis de développer une approche humaine et collaborative, ancrée dans le milieu.

Dans son rôle chez Gold Fields, elle contribuera à renforcer le dialogue avec les communautés locales et nos parties prenantes afin de favoriser des relations durables basées sur l’écoute et le respect.

We are pleased to introduce Valérie Roy, our new Community Liaison Officer.

Originally from Lebel-sur-Quévillon, Valérie has a strong understanding of the region and the people who live there. Her experience as an operator, community development officer and volunteer firefighter has helped her develop a people-focused and collaborative approach, rooted in the community.

In her role at Gold Fields, she will help strengthen dialogue with local communities and our stakeholders to foster lasting relationships built on listening and respect.

Notre collègue Miguel Vachon était à Explo Abitibi, à Rouyn-Noranda, pour représenter Gold Fields et aller à la rencontre des acteurs de l’industrie minière québécoise.

Une belle occasion d’échanger sur notre vision du développement minier responsable, de renforcer nos liens avec le milieu et de poursuivre les discussions autour de l’avancement du projet Windfall.

Our colleague Miguel Vachon attended Explo Abitibi in Rouyn-Noranda to represent Gold Fields and connect with key players from Quebec’s mining industry.

It was a great opportunity to discuss our vision for responsible mining development, strengthen our ties with the industry and continue conversations surrounding the advancement of the Windfall project.

Nous sommes fiers de célébrer la réussite des cinq participantes et participants de notre cinquième cohorte du programme L’Essentiel des mines, soulignée jeudi dernier à Waswanipi.

Cette cohorte a fait preuve d’une grande curiosité et d’un intérêt à poursuivre leur cheminement dans le secteur minier après avoir exploré différents environnement de travail, tant sous terre qu'à la carothèque et à l'entretien.

Être partenaire de L’Essentiel des mines, c’est réaffirmer notre conviction que former la relève et soutenir le développement des compétences locales. Avec cette nouvelle cohorte, se sont 28 personnes essentielles à l’avenir de notre industrie et de nos communautés qui ont été formées par le programme.

We are proud to celebrate the success of the five participants from our fifth cohort of the Essentials of Mining program, marked last Thursday in Waswanipi.

Throughout the program, this cohort demonstrated strong curiosity and a genuine interest in pursuing a future in the mining sector after exploring various work environments, including underground operations as well as the core shack and maintenance areas.

Being a partner of Essentials of Mining reaffirms our belief that training the next generation and supporting the development of local skills are essential. With this new cohort, a total of 28 individuals essential to the future of our industry and our communities have now been trained through the program.

Une étape clé vient d’être franchie pour le projet Windfall avec la tenue des audiences publiques à Ville de Lebel-sur-Quévillon la semaine dernière et à Cree First Nation Of Waswanipi cette semaine.

Présidées par le COMEX, ces audiences s’inscrivent dans le processus d’évaluation environnementale. Elles permettent aux communautés, aux parties prenantes et au public de poser leurs questions, d’exprimer leurs préoccupations et de s’informer sur le projet.

À la suite de ces échanges, le COMEX émettra ses recommandations au Ministère de l'Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs.

Ces rencontres ont donné lieu à des discussions ouvertes, constructives et respectueuses, témoignant de l’intérêt et de l’engagement envers le projet et son développement responsable.

Merci à toutes les personnes qui ont participé à ces audiences et contribué à la qualité des échanges. Un merci particulier à Andréanne Boisvert pour sa disponibilité et la clarté de ses réponses tout au long des audiences.

A key milestone has been reached for the Windfall project with the public hearings held last week in Ville de Lebel-sur-Quévillon and this week in Waswanipi.

Chaired by the COMEX, these hearings are part of the environmental assessment process. They provide an opportunity for communities, stakeholders, and the public to ask questions, share concerns, and learn more about the project.

Following these discussions, the COMEX will issue its recommendations to the Québec Ministry of the Environment.

These meetings led to open, constructive, and respectful discussions, reflecting strong interest and engagement in the project and its responsible development.

Thank you to everyone who took part in these hearings and contributed to the quality of the dialogue. A special thank you to Andréanne Boisvert for her availability and the clarity of her responses throughout the hearings.

Nous étions présents hier soir au Défi OSEntreprendre Nord-du-Québec, aux côtés de SADC Chibougamau-Chapais, ARBJ, Commission scolaire Baie-James et des villes de Chapais, Matagami, Lebel-sur-Quévillon, Salluit et Radisson.

Un moment inspirant pour mettre en lumière celles et ceux qui choisissent de se lancer en entrepreneuriat et qui font avancer des projets concrets dans la région.

Chez Gold Fields Windfall, soutenir la relève entrepreneuriale fait partie de notre engagement sur le territoire. Nous sommes fiers d’être partenaires du mouvement et d’avoir remis deux prix Coup de cœur régionaux, avec Valérie Roy sur place.

Cet hiver, Wassim Chouiyakh et Samuel Girard ont eu la chance de vivre un stage à Windfall.

Nous leur avons demandé à quoi ressemble l'expérience de travailler sur le site, au cœur des opérations.

« Ce stage m’a vraiment permis de faire le lien entre la théorie et le terrain. J’ai pu participer concrètement au développement de la mine, relever des défis techniques et collaborer avec plusieurs équipes. Ça m’a donné une vraie vision d’ensemble des opérations. » – Wassim

« J’ai eu la chance de toucher à plusieurs aspects de l’ingénierie minière, comme la ventilation, la planification, le contrôle de terrain et la construction. Les apprentissages sont concrets et l’équipe rend l’expérience encore plus motivante. » – Samuel

This winter, Wassim Chouiyakh and Samuel Girard had the opportunity to complete an internship at Windfall.

We asked them what it’s like to work on site, at the heart of operations.

“This internship truly helped me connect theory with fieldwork. I was able to contribute directly to the development of the mine, take on technical challenges and collaborate with multiple teams. It gave me a real overall understanding of the operations.” – Wassim

“I had the opportunity to explore several areas of mining engineering, including ventilation, planning, ground control and construction. The learning is hands-on, and the team makes the experience even more motivating.” – Samuel
