Before I forget, I want to thank Laila Wazne Laila for the beautiful gift and for helping me set up before everyone arrived for the annual Neonatal Hemodynamics / Targeted Neonatal Echo event at my place. Huge thanks to her for the celebratory cake and her ongoing academic and scientific contributions to NeoCardioLab and the cardiovascular mission of the NICU at MCH. We also celebrated the arrival of our new fellow, Shima AlAhmadi Dr Shima Alahmadi, and the upcoming graduation of Dr Abdullah Alghamdi. We celebrated Dr Laurence O'Malley Laurence Soucy-Giguère, who graduated in July and started at Ste-Justine. We recognized many graduate students like Ellory Ellory, Jessica, Yannick, and phoenix Phoenix, who fast-tracked to PhD. Big thanks to Daniela Science with Nani 🤓💡 for five years of constant contribution and more to come!. Thanks to colleagues present—Dr. Ryan Michelle Ryan , Dr. Nouraeyan Sheida Ebrahimpour —Dr. Spénard SarahSpd sent regrets as she was postcall. And of course, all NICU and RTC members supporting our training programs at McGill. Also present: our admin Natalie, Charlotte (research coordinator and also started PhD!) Such a pleasure to have Dr Wil Corder from CHOP at the Hôpital de Montréal pour enfants - Montreal Children’s Hospital and McGill University ! We are very grateful for sharing his expertise, experience and knowledge with us at Neonatal Rounds and during sessions with our trainees! Dr Corder presented on the incredible work being done with his team at CHOP on neonatal vascular access ! A source of inspiration for sure. We are looking forward for many collaborations with his team, and many future projects between the NeoCardioLab and him! Thank you for coming to Montreal and allowing to learn from you!!! A special thanks to Maky Fraga for making the links 🔗 and always being so proactive at creating collaborations with the optic of advancing the care and the science for the wellbeing of newborns and their families.

We invite you to participate in a short survey to understand your current clinical practice and solicit your input in the design of a future clinical trial on the management of preterm infants born up to 26+6 weeks’ gestation with hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus (hsPDA) who remain invasively ventilated beyond 7 days of age. Participation involves completing an anonymous online survey, which will take approximately 10 minutes. No identifiable personal information will be collected. A new July case-based neonatal POCUS resource is now available on the NeoCardioLab website. This case illustrates the bedside ultrasound findings of a massive hemoperitoneum and highlights how abdominal point-of-care ultrasound can rapidly identify a large volume of intraperitoneal fluid in a critically unwell newborn. The case emphasizes the importance of a systematic abdominal examination, integration of ultrasound findings with the infant’s hemodynamic and clinical status, and serial reassessment when internal bleeding is suspected.
