Edgehog is a startup founded by Calvin Cheng and Siamak Kashi and operates out of TandemLaunch, a deep tech incubator and investment fund based in Montreal.

Edgehog specializes in anti-reflection and other light management solutions, enabling sunlight readability for displays and enhancing power efficiency for displays and lighting applications. In displays, traditional solutions to glare and intense ambient lighting lies in enhancing the screen brightness. However, this approach is limited by the high energy cost associated with increased light output. Other approaches, such as anti-glare via diffusion mechanisms and anti-reflection coatings suffer from reduced resolution and wavelength dependency, respectively. Edgehog’s nano-structural approach to anti-reflection results in low reflectance across the entire visible spectrum, enabling full screen readability from all angles. Furthermore, by reducing glare and increasing light output, contrast is enhanced even at lower screen brightness, significantly reducing power consumption.
