End of life. Restoremontreal takes pride in providing quality renovation/construction services. Specializing in older homes, we try to maintain the character and style of the period in which old homes were built. We can not repair what has outlived its useful life. Plaster at some point after years of vibrations and freeze/thaw movements will eventually detach from the lathes. Cielings go first. It can't be saved or repaired. This ceiling has already gone through several repairs. Most times we are able to save the crown moldings. We would never throw gyprock ontop without removing the old plaster. Doing it right.
