🚨 **IMPORTANT CHANGES TO THE TAKECHARGE OIL-TO-ELECTRIC PROGRAM!** 🚨
The government has recently updated the requirements for the Oil-to-Electric Program, and these changes could affect your plans!
📅 **CHANGE #1 – SHORTER PROJECT TIMELINE**
Effective October 22, 2026, all NEW pre-approvals will have **6 MONTHS (180 days)** to complete their project, instead of the previous 12 months (365 days).
🏡 **CHANGE #2 – MINI SPLIT REQUIREMENTS**
We're also seeing stricter enforcement of the requirement to have **at least ONE MINI SPLIT PER LEVEL** of your home when removing your oil heating system and replacing it with mini splits through the program. (also remember you need a second source of heat with mini splits but not with a central heat pump)
This is especially important for homeowners who were planning to install just one mini split!
💰 **THE GOOD NEWS?**
Government funding is still available to help eligible homeowners make the switch from oil to electric heating and there were more funding programs annouced.
