What You'll Be Doing

This is a hands-on technical role — you'll be diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems across a range of industries, no two days look the same.

– Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems using diagnostic software and digital tools
– Disassemble, service, and reassemble machines and equipment
– Repair or replace components including pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, and hoses
– Conduct functional testing to verify systems are performing to spec
– Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams on preventive maintenance planning
– Document all work accurately — we take records seriously
– Mentor junior technicians and share what you know
– Travel offshore occasionally — safety protocols always apply

What We're Looking For

Required

– 5+ years of hands-on experience in hydraulics, millwright, or a closely related trade
– Strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems, components, and equipment
– Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and system readings
– Strong communication skills — you'll be working with clients and colleagues alike
– Legally entitled to work in Canada
– Basic Safety Training (BST) — required for offshore assignments; we'll support you in obtaining this if you don't have it yet

Nice to Have

– IFPS certification (Industrial Hydraulic Mechanic or Technician)
– Millwright certification
– Technical diploma or certification in hydraulic systems or mechanical engineering

Now Hiring: Shop Machinist – Hydraulic Cylinder Repair & Heavy Equipment Components

We are looking for a skilled Machinist to join our team specializing in hydraulic cylinder manufacturing and repair. If you enjoy precision work, mechanical problem solving, and seeing the results of your craftsmanship go back into service on real equipment, this is a great opportunity to build a long-term career in a stable, well-equipped clean shop.

This role is ideal for an experienced Red Seal Journeyman Machinist, 3rd Year Apprentice, or even a Millwright with strong machining experience who enjoys hands-on mechanical work and precision repairs.

What You’ll Do

• Manufacture and repair hydraulic cylinders and components
• Machine rods, barrels, pistons, and glands using manual equipment
• Disassemble, inspect, and rebuild hydraulic cylinders
• Diagnose wear, damage, and mechanical issues
• Work from drawings, measurements, and specifications
• Maintain quality standards and safe shop practices

What We’re Looking For

• Red Seal Journeyman Machinist or 3rd Year Apprentice
• Experience with manual lathes, mills, and general machining equipment
• Millwright experience is highly valued – this work often overlaps with millwright skills such as disassembly, mechanical troubleshooting, and precision measurement
• Experience with hydraulic cylinders, hydraulics, or heavy equipment components is a strong asset
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small, skilled team
