Proud to have you with us Cody Blacksky
It's Spotlight Thursday!
Meet Cody Blacksky - also known as 'Dad' amongst his class of fellow apprentices 😄 Cody recently completed Level 3 of the General Carpenter Apprenticeship program and received his Provincial Certificate of Qualification! We caught up with him to ask him a few questions!
Who Do You work For?
I work for a small but up and coming construction company called Lance Contracting! We build Custom Homes in the Muskoka/Parry Sound area and we also build Lottery Homes for the Princess Margaret Lottery, sub-contracting for Linwood homes. If you haven’t heard of us before, you have now!
At what point did you realize that the trades were calling your name?
I think it was when My dad who I used to work for said “ Hey, do you want a job?”😆 Actually, My dad and most of my uncles and cousins were Carpenters or worked in the trades and when I was growing up they were my hero’s, especially my dad Dan! When I started building, I realized I was pretty good at it and I just stuck with it.
What motivates you to go to work every day?
The cool thing about Carpentry is that there is ALWAYS something that you haven’t built yet and Architects are always coming up with new and intuitive designs. There is always another challenge just around the corner!
If you could choose any Superpower, what would it be?
If I could choose any superpower, I would choose Omnicompetence! It's the ability to succeed at and to perfect whatever you're doing! I would love to have the ability to learn anything and to be able to teach others!
Congratulations on your achievements Cody!
