to our first project with Design Build Solutions

Located behind the former Penhorn Plaza, Opal Ridge features Agway Metals installed horizontally, with MAC Metal Architectural PolyMac panels used as balcony accents.

Fun fact: PolyMac panels aren’t just for horizontal orientation. They can also be installed vertically, like the balcony columns shown here, giving architects another option for adding clean lines and visual interest to a building.

It’s always fun looking back at projects like this and seeing how they helped build the relationships we still have today.

Fun fact (if you’re a cladding geek like us)…

The PolyMac soffit panels on this project are 12 feet long.

It’s not every day you get to install panels this size. They take a bit more planning, but they make a big impact once they’re up.

How do you find a leak in an existing building?

You don’t wait for a rainy day. You actually want a dry day.

The goal is to isolate exactly where the water is getting in. We start at the bottom of the wall and introduce water one section at a time while someone waits inside to watch for signs of a leak.

The hardest part is being patient. Water takes time to work its way through a wall assembly. If you move too quickly, you can end up chasing the wrong problem.

Finding the source of a leak isn’t about getting everything wet. It’s about following a methodical process until you know exactly where the water is getting in.

Progress update from the Bloomsbury project.

The MAC Metal Architectural Harrywood soffits are starting to come together.

One of the things that makes Harrywood stand out is the detail in the finish. MAC Metal uses different shades and tones throughout the panels to recreate the natural variation found in real wood.

The result is a durable metal product with the warmth and character of a wood finish.

Checking in on the townhouses at SOQU Residence on Pepperell Street.

The Anvil team has been busy bringing these façades together with Prodema phenolic panels and some sharp exterior details.

This section has a completely different look from the main building, and it’s great seeing all the pieces of this project come together.

This top-down view of SoQU Residences on Quinpool Road in Halifax shows the exterior wall assembly coming together.

Before the Tempio by Ceramica Mayor porcelain tile system from Peacock Facade & Floor is complete, layers like window prep, air and water barrier, insulation, substructure, and tile installation create a durable, high-performing envelope.

There is a lot more to a façade than the finished product.

This photo from SoQU Residences on Quinpool Road in Halifax shows a look behind the Tempio porcelain tile façade system from Peacock Façade and Floor.

Before the finished tile goes on, a complete substructure is installed to create a strong, precise, and long-lasting exterior wall assembly.

The finished panels are what everyone sees, but the performance of the system comes from the details underneath.
