This is a homemade Wood splitter cylinder, the reason it came in was the rod seal was leaking but after I resealed it when I first tested it it was wet between the head and the tube, very slow drips.

Are hydraulic flat face couplers worth the extra money? Yes, especially if you couple and uncouple hoses frequently.
Here is why:
Zero Spills: Eliminates fluid loss when disconnecting.
Less Mess: Saves you from tedious cleanup jobs.
Cost Savings: Prevents expensive hydraulic oil waste over time.

When we repacked these two hydraulic cylinders the rod seals were extruded. This can be caused by a few different things or a combination of side load, over pressuring, or excessive gap caused by wear. I installed a special rod seal to prevent this from happening again.

This one was a bit of a challenge when it came in. It is a steering cylinder off of an Allis-Chalmers Tractor. It appears someone previously machined the piston to try and get standard loaded u-cups to work. The piston is has a smaller outside diameter on the ends so the seals extruded under pressure. Since the piston had been modified we had a choice get a custom seal made or make a new piston to fit a standard seal like the seal with orange wear rings shown in the pictures. They decided to go for the custom seal that you see in the pictures (Red/Blue) and the cylinder went together nicely and tested good.

When this valve bank came in I thought it might be done for. I got it apart and cleaned up and had to replace the handle kits and spring center kits along with new seals. Now it's working with no leaks. The Main relief is set at 2500 psi and on the second spool there is an external port relief and the down function of the cylinder is reduced to 500 psi as you see in the video. It is used for a gooseneck trailer.
