**This one was a beauty for us. It was the full package — generator, solar, battery storage, and the brains behind the whole system. If you were trying to come up with a smarter, more efficient way to use power, this was it. During the day, the home pulled from solar. When the sun went down, it ran off the battery. If the battery started getting low and there wasn’t enough solar production, the generator stepped in to keep everything going. Everything worked together automatically so the homeowner always had power in the most efficient way possible.
And on top of that, if the system produced more energy than the home was using, the extra power went right back to BC Hydro, helping offset the bill and making the system even more valuable over time.
Projects like this are exactly what we love doing at CNA Electric — designing systems where solar, battery, and backup power all work together the way they’re supposed to. The issue is most light boxes aren’t rated to support a fan. The extra weight and vibration can loosen the box over time, and we’ve seen enough close calls to know it’s worth doing properly.

When we install a fan, we make sure the box and support are correct so you don’t have problems later.

Nothing says “2am panic” like a chirping smoke alarm you forgot about. Time change = battery change.

Smoke Alarms can save lives, if they work. With the time change this weekend, don’t forget to also change out the batteries in your smoke alarm.

Smoke alarms with non-replaceable (long-life) batteries are designed to remain effective for up to 10 years. If the smoke alarm chirps, warning that the battery is low, replace the entire smoke alarm right away.

For smoke alarms without non-replaceable (long-life) batteries, replace batteries at least once a year. If the alarm chirps, replace the battery.
