These parents wanted to partition off a room to create a suite bunkie with its own entrance. So I poked a hole in the wall and installed a new exterior door with landing and had locally sourced cedar and fir for this custom ladder with a french cleat up top for simplicity.

I hadn't seen one of these before. An inverted roof pitch troughed in the center out the side of the building.
Not to mention the homemade trusses that were way over span. Things were done a little different 30 years ago, but, no worries. A new midspan beam to carry the load and fresh metal roof will fix it.

When the pandemic hit, carriage bolts cost so much, it was actually cheaper to make our own. Silly economics, tricks are for kids.

This was a quick gimmic gift for a Secret Santa one year. I made it from (my personal favorite) western Arbutus, by chainsaw mill and a skillsaw for the rest 😅 Don't those dimensions look perfect for, say, a beer!? You betcha.

It's the thought that counts.

Remembering that power shed build the customer asked me if I can incorporate a 10' tall, 8" at the butt, curved yellow cedar branch they had been saving for 30 years! So I says to them I says, Heckin rights I can!

It was a fun idea and turned out mighty fine.

There's just one small detail I wish I had of thought of to ask the customer to add, can you guess it?

If you guessed, A Dormer, than you're absolutely right!

At least the cats are happy 😅
