FLAP UPDATE: We know many residents affected by the recent flooding want to take steps now to better protect their homes. The City is developing an Emergency Flood Alleviation Program to help eligible homeowners move through the process more efficiently.

One important thing to know upfront: funding has not yet been confirmed. Even if you meet all eligibility requirements and follow every required step, reimbursement is not guaranteed. City Council is expected, however, to discuss funding options at its Aug. 24 meeting.

Residents can still start the process now. The proposed program would cover 90 per cent of eligible flood-protection work, up to $5,000, if funding is available. Already applied since July 1? We have your application and you do not need to apply again.

We continue to work with other levels of government to seek additional funding to support residents. While there may be a source determined at Council's Aug. 24 meeting, until funding is confirmed, residents who choose to proceed should do so knowing reimbursement cannot be guaranteed.
