Celebrating Fran Giesbrecht 🎉
Today we celebrate and honour an incredible chapter as Fran Giesbrecht officially begins her retirement after 13 years of dedicated service and leadership at SCMI.
Fran joined SCMI in 2013 with the important task of creating and building our safety program. What she brought to that role, however, was so much more than policies, procedures, and training. Fran created a culture of safety built on genuine care for people.
She took her role as our “Safety Mom” very seriously. She made sure everyone felt supported, educated, and cared for — almost as if we were her own. She held high standards, but she always balanced them with encouragement, compassion, and a reminder of what really mattered: making sure everyone went home safe and healthy at the end of the day.
Her safety committee believed in what she was doing because they could see how much she cared. And, of course, it probably didn’t hurt that she had a way of showing up to those meetings with her famous breakfast casserole! 😊
Fran has left an impact on SCMI that goes far beyond the safety program she built. She has influenced people, strengthened our culture, and helped make SCMI a better place to work. Most importantly, she reminded us that safety isn't just about rules — it's about people.
While we are sad to see her leave, we know Fran won't be sitting still for long. As a wife, mom, grandma, and perpetual community volunteer, we're sure she'll continue pouring that same energy, compassion, and dedication into the people and causes she loves.
Fran, thank you for 13 incredible years of commitment, friendship, leadership, and care. We are deeply grateful for everything you have given to SCMI and for the countless people whose lives you have positively influenced along the way.
Congratulations on your retirement, Fran! You have certainly earned it. ❤️
