Iron Ochre🤯🤬! (pronounced “iron ow-ker”)
bacteria are of no threat to human health. It is found naturally in soils and water in low numbers and will thrive as more iron becomes available.

Will my sump pump be able to pump Iron Ochre Ground Water?
Only heavy duty pumps, such as sewage ejector pumps will be able to move Iron Ochre water. We suggest that you have your sump pit cleaned once a year by a professional, even if you suspect you are getting Iron Ochre.

Iron ochre is a problem because it can cause damage to your home’s foundation and basement. As the sludge accumulates 🤢 in your sump pump pit and drain tile, it can cause clogs and prevent water from draining properly. This can lead to flooding and water damage in your home.

In the photos shown you can see a $100-$200 standard sump pump. It has been choked out with Iron Ochre. Unfortunately the standard sump pump is no longer functional. You can also see the vehicle pipe that has been choked out due to Iron Orchre. From@a 1-1/2” pipe to I’d say about 1/2” to 1/4”.
