Before choosing a measurement method, determine what decision could change the process, what evidence would justify it, where and how often that evidence is needed, and who—or what—will act on the result.

Those answers determine whether the application requires periodic analysis, automated load measurement or continuous conveyor monitoring.

One process. Three measurement points.

For a planned gold-processing application, three WipWare Solo systems were selected for different stages of the crushing and HPGR circuit:

• Post-primary crusher: Monitor crusher output to support gap management, automation and compliance.

• Pre-HPGR: Identify oversize feed before it reaches the HPGR, supporting consistent operation and equipment protection.

• Post-HPGR: Measure the resulting product against the operation’s target particle-size range and evaluate output consistency.

Each location answers a different operational question. Together, the systems will provide visibility into how the material changes through the process.

It matters—but the application comes first.

Material visibility, particle range, lighting, dust, motion, installation location, calibration and the intended use of the results all influence whether a measurement will be useful.

Part 11 - Reviewing the Journey of the First Online Automated Fragmentation Analysis Technology: Applications of the First Online Fragmentation Analysis System Beyond the Mining Industry.
By 1999, two of the original System I units had been sold, followed by several installations of the more advanced System II, which supported multiple camera heads, up to 12 cameras operating simultaneously. The success of automated fragmentation analysis in the mining industry soon demonstrated that machine vision technology could solve a much broader range of industrial measurement challenges.
It is worth noting that by 2000, WipFrag 2 had been developed with numerous improvements, bug fixes, and user-driven enhancements, including fine calibration capabilities. These advancements laid the foundation for the expansion of WipWare Inc.'s technology into many other industries.
