The owners of this Chilliwack home wanted to replace their existing rear deck, keeping the hot tub central and adding a raised section above the tub with a connecting staircase and full-width step to the lawn.
As parents of a young family with an active social life, making a space that worked for hosting was essential. They wanted to have more than one space where guests and family members could relax in summer while the kids play.
To help realise their vision, we ensured that the upper deck wraps around one corner of the hot tub, creating a raised entry point and the opportunity to sit on the deck with a drink while your legs dangle in the warm water.
We used a splitter board to delineate a separate section on the lower deck, where we installed a pre-fab pergola for outdoor dining in any weather.
An additional angled section minimises dead space, and maximises the opportunity for sunbathing on the sunniest spot in the yard.
