UBC’s DES is a centralized system that delivers heat and hot water to over 160 buildings through a network of underground insulated piping, replacing the need for individual boilers in each building.

Our team is upgrading these lines to keep energy flowing efficiently, sustainably, and reliably across campus.

Another day moving serious infrastructures. one trench at a time!

It’s with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of our colleague, Joel, a valued member of our Squamish crew. Joel was a truly positive force, bringing energy and kindness to every job and leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege to work with him.

Joel’s presence will be deeply missed, both on and off the site. Our thoughts are with his family during this incredibly difficult time, and we extend to them our most sincere sympathies.

Let us honor Joel’s memory by supporting one another as a team, just as he would have done for any of us.
