They bought this home for the view. The goal was making sure they could actually enjoy it year-round.⁠

The renovation focused on making everyday life feel easier and more connected to the outdoors for this retired couple. The butterfly roof created a large covered deck that completely changed how the home is used. Rain or shine, the outdoor space now feels like an extension of the main living area, with flush floor levels that create a seamless transition between inside and out.⁠

Behind the scenes, the build was anything but simple. The steep site, oversized roof structure, and massive glass door system required major structural scaffolding and a custom ramp system just to get materials safely into place.⁠

A lot of problem-solving went into making this home feel effortless, but we make it easy.⁠

This house had to do a lot
And the original layout wasn’t keeping up.

Multi-generational living, aging in place, and a way to actually use the outdoors year-round.

So we got to work.

We reworked the layout, opened things up, and built a real connection between inside and out. A covered outdoor room, automated screens, and heat from the fireplace—so it works just as well in November as it does in July.

Inside, the kitchen became the hub it should’ve been.
More space, better flow, and room for people to actually be together.

Behind the scenes, it got complicated.
Structural steel, tight framing, and a full mechanical rethink to make it all work.

And now it does.

Proud to see this one recognized with a HAVAN Award for Best Renovation $1.5M–$4M.

🏡 Custom Home Spotlight: Bowen Island⁠

Building on Bowen Island isn’t for the faint of heart, especially when your lot is solid granite at 700ft elevation. For this project, our team had to bring in water, sewer, and electrical, and even build a road just to access the site.⁠
⁠
The result? A 5,000 sq. ft. private residence made up of seven colourful buildings, each one planned down to the smallest detail by . From the glulam beams creating that wave-like roofline to the two-storey library lined with books, every part of this home was designed to match the site’s rugged beauty.⁠
⁠
This one took about two years to complete and pushed us to stay 10 (sometimes 20) steps ahead at every stage. Challenging? Absolutely. Worth it? 100%.⁠
