It was Monday, March 25th, that the announcement was made for employees of the Micron group in Quebec and Ontario. The changes ahead are very positive for the Micron group!
Plastique Micron of Sainte-Claire and its two subsidiaries, Action Plastic Products of Anjou and IMBC Blowmolding 2014 of Orangeville, Ontario, are in the hands of Altium Packaging Canada, owned by the American company Consolidated Container Company ( CCC Plastics), based in Atlanta.
The transaction, which was completed and confirmed earlier this week, was confirmed by Micron Plastics CEO Bernard Poitras. The latter pointed out that he had, from September 2018, decided to sell the business for personal and family reasons.
The amount of the transaction remains confidential, but Mr. Poitras stresses that it will not change the daily lives of the 155 or so employees working at the Sainte-Claire plant. With the other two factories, the PMI group provides work for 250 people.
"The members of the Saint-Claire-based management team will have more work in the future because they have the mandate to manage all activities in Quebec and Ontario," says Mr Poitras adds that with these acquisitions, CCC Plastics now owns six plants in Canada. "CCC Plastics is a growing company that wanted to invest in Canada. Their arrival comes at an ideal time and will engender a new phase of expansion for Micron Plastic, "he adds.
Over the next six months, Bernard Poitras will act as executive consultant for new acquirers. His mandate will be to facilitate the integration of the company into the new group, to look for potential new acquisitions in Quebec and Ontario, and to work to implement the values of CCC Plastics within the new group. new properties and ensure a leading role in communications.
This mandate is expected to end at the end of September and from then on, he wishes to invest 8 to 10 hours a week in the realization of various mandates that could be provided by the new owners who, in total, employ nearly of 3,000 people on both sides of the border.
