Join us at the Conference de Montreal on June 9, where Hugues Jacquemin will join some of Canada’s leading voices in mining, from government and industry, on a kickoff panel, CRITICAL MINERALS AT THE HEART OF INDUSTRIAL SOVEREIGNTY, at 0900 in the Studio Hydro-Quebec.
As the global race for clean technologies accelerates, critical minerals and rare earths have become strategic assets at the center of economic security and industrial power.
Panelists will address questions including:
How are regulatory frameworks, tariffs, and export controls impacting supply chains and pricing structures for these critical commodities?
As new technologies reshape global demand profiles, how should governments and companies recalibrate long-term strategies for securing the minerals of the future?
And,
How can Québec and Canada strengthen their position across critical mineral value chains?

NEWS: Northern announces Q1 2026 Results:
“Northern has entered a pivotal stage in its evolution, with a stronger balance sheet, advancing operations and a clear path toward becoming an integrated global graphite and battery materials producer,” said Mr. Jacquemin. “Over the coming quarters, we expect to restart production at Lac des Iles, continue advancing toward a final investment decision for our planned BAM facility in Yanbu and further position Okanjande as a future source of scalable graphite production. Together, these initiatives are laying the foundation for Northern to become a key supplier of critical materials to global markets seeking secure supply chains independent of China.” Read the release: https://www.northerngraphite.com/northern-graphite-announces-first-quarter-2026-results-and-provides-corporate-update/

Northern is spotlighted in this piece about its plans to restart production at the Okanjande mine in Namibia to supply its planned Battery Anode Material (“BAM”) facility in Saudi Arabia. The article highlights why fully permitted graphite assets in stable jurisdictions are becoming strategically important as Western governments.
Key Points:
• Okanjande is fully permitted and positioned for a targeted restart in late 2027
• Northern is relocating the processing plant directly to the mine site to improve economics and scalability
• The project is intended to supply graphite feedstock to the Company’s planned BAM facility Saudi Arabia
• Why Namibia’s political stability and access to deep-water port infrastructure are competitive advantages

As the global battery industry increasingly prioritizes security of supply, regional diversification and ESG performance, projects linking mines to downstream battery materials production are attracting growing attention.

Explore how Okanjande's graphite mine restart offers a capital-efficient path to diversifying battery supply chains beyond China.

Northern Graphite’s Chief Commercial Officer, Michael Grimm, joined the ALKEEMIA Battery Forum in Venice this week to discuss what it will take to build a resilient, non-China graphite value chain. Alongside fellow panelists, he highlighted the need to move beyond mining and build an integrated mine-to-battery ecosystem to achieve the scale, cost competitiveness and bankability needed for long-term success.
