Your laundry tub- The Catch -All for many household projects!
1) If your washing machine discharges into a tub, be very aware if anything is sitting in the tub that may cover the plug hole, thus causing an overflow. eg rogue laundry, paint rollers etc
(we highly recommend a washer box which removes this flooding/ overflow risk)
2) As the piping under a laundry tub is exposed, causing a pipe leak is possible because many things get shoved under the sink- mop buckets, paint cans etc.
A slightly loose joint in the piping can be nudged to create a big dump of water on the floor.
3) A hidden leak can cause mold and property damage. We highly recommend a puddle alarm near your tub (and any water fixture for that matter). These alarms are placed on the floor and emit a loud noise when water is detected.
4) Our crew have seen many laundry areas that have clothes on hangers hanging off the water supply lines.
This can cause lines to weaken over time or even if the hanger is metal and the line is copper (and has been on there years) the copper can succumb to galvanic corrosion.
5) Your laundry tub faucets are generally not used as much as the other ones in your home. lack of use can cause seizing of the handles and drying out of rubber seals.
Turn on your laundry taps regularly to keep things running smooth.
