Our team spends its days solving problems, working on job sites, supporting our clients and finding better ways to improve the performance of buildings across Canada.

But great teams are built in the moments between the projects, too.

So when the ice cream truck shows up, you stop. You grab a cone. And apparently, you take a selfie. 😄

A little Friday appreciation for the people who make Lightenco what it is.

Great work. Great people. And, occasionally, great ice cream.

Have a wonderful long weekend from all of us at Lightenco!

Fluorescent lighting in your building is no longer just a maintenance issue. It’s a regulatory one.

Canada has restricted the manufacture and import of most mercury-containing fluorescent lamps under federal law. That means:
‱ Supply is shrinking
‱ Replacement costs are rising
‱ “Replace as it fails” is no longer a safe strategy

If your portfolio still runs on T8s or T12s, this is not theoretical. Distributors are already tightening inventory. Once stock is gone, it’s gone.

The fluorescent ban in Canada isn’t about preference. It’s about compliance, supply risk, and operational continuity. We’ve broken down exactly what this means for building owners and operators here:🔗 https://bit.ly/462Qmoj

If you’re responsible for facilities, capital planning, or ESG reporting, now is the time to run a lighting audit. Waiting will only increase cost and reduce control.

It is a current compliance reality, and it is already reshaping supply chains across Canada. Under the authority of the Canadian Environmental Protection A...

At Lightenco, we spend every day helping our clients reduce energy consumption, lower emissions, and operate their buildings more sustainably. Today, we looked inward.

Today is our first "Green Day".

Every Wednesday, members of our team work remotely—not because we believe great organizations are built from home, but because we believe great organizations are built with intention.

Green Day is part of our operating model. Four days each week we work side-by-side, collaborating, solving problems, mentoring one another, and serving our clients together.

One day each week, we reduce commuting, create dedicated time for focused work, and take one small step toward reducing our own environmental footprint.

It's a reminder that sustainability isn't just something we recommend. It's something we choose to practice. The environmental impact of one day may be modest. The impact of making thousands of intentional decisions over time is anything but.

Leadership doesn't begin with what we ask our clients to do. It begins with what we're willing to do ourselves.

From coast to coast, Canada's building owners and operators face the same challenge: doing more with less energy.

We're proud to help organizations across the country reduce costs, improve performance, and make meaningful progress toward their sustainability goals. Today, we're delivering multiple projects in the Maritimes.

Whether we're conducting energy audits, engineering solutions, securing incentives, or implementing projects, our team works where our clients need us—serving organizations in both official languages from Atlantic Canada to the Pacific.

Ontario is about to experience its hottest day of the year.

As temperatures climb, so will electricity demand. air conditioning systems will work harder, utility costs will rise, and buildings across the province will be put to the test.

Days like today are more than weather events—they're stress tests.

They reveal which buildings are operating efficiently... and which are quietly consuming far more energy than they should.

The reality is that many organizations don't need to spend more on energy. They need a clearer understanding of where it's being used, what's driving their costs, and which improvements will have the greatest impact.

That's why building performance assessments matter.

They provide an objective roadmap to reduce operating costs, improve occupant comfort, strengthen resilience, and make informed capital investment decisions. Whether the goal is lowering emissions, extending the life of existing equipment, or preparing for future electrification, good decisions begin with good information.

The hottest day of the year won't last.

But the insights gained from understanding how your building performs can deliver value for years to come.

That's the difference between reacting to today's weather... and preparing for tomorrow's.

The future of energy isn't being shaped by one organization—it takes collaboration.

Today, members of the Lightenco team are attending the Ottawa Board of Trade Energy Forum, joining leaders from business, government, utilities, and industry to explore how we build the energy infrastructure needed to support a growing, more electrified economy.

Staying at the forefront of our industry means more than delivering great projects. It means listening, learning, sharing ideas, and engaging in the conversations that will shape the future of energy in our communities.

The challenges ahead are complex, but so are the opportunities. Events like this bring together the partnerships and perspectives needed to drive practical, sustainable solutions that benefit businesses, communities, and the environment.

Thank you to the Ottawa Board of Trade for bringing together so many passionate leaders to advance this important conversation. We're proud to be part of it.

Commercial solar is gaining momentum in Ontario—and that's exactly why conversations like today's matter.

The Lightenco team is pleased to be participating in the Toronto Hydro Solar Connect Workshop, alongside industry partners, helping building owners and property managers better understand what's possible with commercial solar.

At Lightenco, we believe every successful energy project starts with good engineering, sound economics, and a clear understanding of the opportunities available—not with a product.

The technology is only one piece of the puzzle. Understanding incentives, navigating the connection process, evaluating building suitability, and developing the right long-term strategy are what turn good ideas into successful projects.

Thank you to Toronto Hydro for bringing together so many knowledgeable organizations to share expertise and help accelerate Ontario's clean energy future.

If you're attending today, we'd love to connect.

Today the Lightenco team is attending the Annual Forum hosted by Partners in Project Green.

We're proud supporters of PPG because their mission closely aligns with our own: bringing together building owners, operators, sustainability professionals, and solution providers to accelerate environmental progress through practical action.

The challenges facing our buildings and infrastructure are too complex for any one organization to solve alone. Real progress happens when people share ideas, challenge assumptions, learn from one another, and work together to implement meaningful solutions.

Events like the Annual Forum create those opportunities.

We're looking forward to connecting with industry leaders, hearing new perspectives, and continuing the conversations that help organizations reduce energy consumption, lower emissions, improve resilience, and build a more sustainable future.

We hope to see you there.
