I'm 64, retired, living in Calgary. I spent 45 years working –
and retirement was supposed to be my time. But instead of freedom,
it felt like I was just surviving month to month.
Property taxes, groceries, prescriptions... every month the same struggle.
Even with a pension and some savings, the money disappeared faster than it came in.
I'd always dreamed of traveling – seeing Europe, visiting the grandkids
more often, maybe taking my wife on a real vacation for once.
But every time I looked at my bank account, I knew it was just a dream.
Then back in May, I stumbled across a CBC article about a government-backed
platform designed to help retirees grow their savings. I was skeptical –
I'm not a finance guy, never invested before.
But I figured, what's the worst that could happen with $350?
They called me the same day, explained everything clearly, and I gave it a shot.
Three months later, my account showed over $56,000. I sat there staring
at the screen, thinking: "This can't be real." But it was.
That was back in August. Since then? Everything changed.
The bills are covered. I'm not watching my savings evaporate anymore.
And last month, my wife and I finally took that trip to Italy we'd been
talking about for 20 years.
I'm sharing this because if I hadn't seen that CBC article back in May,
I'd still be stressing about bills. Maybe someone else needs to see this too.
Check the article I left in the comments - I don’t know how long it’ll stay up, so take a look while you can. 👇
