Another Macon wash plant is getting ready to head to New Zealand, and we’re proud to be building on the relationships that brought us back.

From rolling farmland and river valleys to rugged, remote terrain, New Zealand’s varied landscape can bring its own challenges for access, material handling, and production. Every operation has different demands, which is why understanding the job ahead matters just as much as building the equipment itself.

Our work doesn’t stop when a plant leaves our shop on Vancouver Island. Our technicians travel internationally to support commissioning, test systems on site, and help crews get comfortable with their equipment before production gets underway. And when questions come up down the road, we stay connected.

We’re grateful to the operators who continue to put their trust in Macon, here at home and on the other side of the world. Every repeat project is an opportunity to strengthen that partnership and keep building around the realities of the work.

Have a project overseas? Let’s talk about what your operation needs.

Another great season in the Yukon comes down to good people, strong partnerships, and the work that happens behind the scenes to keep operations moving.

From our team in Parksville to our growing presence in Dawson City, we’re continuing to invest in the people, parts, and support that help our clients succeed. A big part of that effort is Jeff and our commissioning team, who work directly with operators to get equipment up and running, provide hands-on guidance, and help crews get the most out of their equipment in the field.

With a dedicated parts representative in Dawson and a growing local inventory of larger parts, we’re also making it easier for Yukon operators to access support closer to their operations. Whether it’s commissioning a new plant, planning for the next season, or working through an equipment challenge, our focus remains on practical solutions and dependable support.

To Jeff, our commissioning team, and the clients who continue to put their trust in Macon, thank you for being part of another great season. Your feedback, collaboration, and continued partnership help us improve and strengthen the support we provide.

As one season wraps up, we’re already looking ahead to the next. What did your operation learn this season, and what are you preparing for next year?

Not every site calls for a standard wash plant. The SS-800 De-Rocker was built specifically for coarse, unforgiving ground, featuring a reinforced 8 foot wide triple deck design capable of handling boulders up to 36 inches without missing a beat. Where a typical plant would struggle, the SS-800 keeps processing.

Unit Highlights:

Processing capacity: 120 to 180 tons per hour

Weight: 34,500 lbs

Screening area: 96 square feet

Water: 1,500 to 2,000 GPM

Power: 118 HP stand alone diesel hydraulic power pack, no generator required

Sluice run: 8 feet wide by 20 feet long, with 1 inch slot aperture sizing for reliable nugget recovery

Heavy duty construction with few moving parts makes the SS-800 ideally suited for excavator feed on rocky, high boulder ground where lesser equipment would bottleneck or break down. It is a rugged, purpose built solution for operators working difficult terrain and difficult weather in equal measure.

Recovery is rarely decided by one big feature. More often, it comes down to details like this one. Every Macon unit, including our trommels, shaker plants, and the de-rocker, is built with adjustable, high pressure spray bar configurations designed to maintain consistent stratification and strong recovery even as feed rates fluctuate throughout the day.

Spray bars are a standard component on every plant we build, and they can also be added on as a special feature for operations that need additional wash capacity. Properly tuned spray bars reduce severe washing, which helps prevent fine gold from being carried off before it has a chance to settle, while still delivering enough pressure to break down clay and keep material moving cleanly across the deck.

Because ground conditions and material types change from site to site, and sometimes from hour to hour, our adjustable water distribution systems let operators fine tune spray bar performance in the field. That flexibility means your plant can hold consistent recovery even when the feed does not cooperate.

It is a simple system, but one that has an outsized impact on how your plant performs day to day. Learn more about our equipment at MaconIndustries.com.

Cleaner concentrate starts before it ever reaches the table. The SD-100 Vibrating Screen was built to complement Macon's gold cleanup lineup, producing classified feed for efficient shaking table or gold wheel operation. It is typically used for wet screening T-150 or Longtom concentrate prior to tabling, slotting in as Step 2 between the T-150 Clean Up Plant and the Gemini GT-250 tabling system.

The SD-100 runs a double screen deck with quick exchange wire mesh cartridges available in 10, 20, 30, and 50 mesh, so operators can size material into oversize and undersize without stopping to manually swap screens between batches. The hopper can be scoop fed or flushed directly from 5 gallon buckets, and the unit collects 2x oversize and 1x undersize product in standard 5 gallon buckets for easy handling.

Specifications:

Concentrates per batch: 20 to 50 lbs, capable of processing larger quantities

Vibrating motor: 0.3 HP, 110 to 230V single phase

Wash water requirement: 10 GPM

The built in undersize collection pan with an overflow weir also allows spillage free, closed loop water recirculation when paired with our Gemini GT-250 tabling system, keeping your cleanup circuit tidy and efficient from start to finish. Something's rumbling up in Dawson City. Our facility is expanding and everything around it is scaling to match: more equipment staged on site, a deeper parts inventory, and a full pump supply held locally, so operators never have to wait on freight to keep a season moving

This kind of growth does not happen on its own. It is a direct result of the repeat business and trust our Yukon clients have placed in us season after season. Every additional plant in Dawson represents a relationship we have built through reliable equipment, honest communication, and support that actually shows up when it is needed.

To keep pace with that demand, we now have a parts representative based directly in Dawson. Operators can speak with sales and parts without waiting on a shipment from the island, and full service support remains available on the ground for anything that comes up. Whether you need a quick part, a conversation about your next plant, or help troubleshooting in the field, the Macon team is set up to respond quickly.

Even in one of the most remote regions we operate in, reaching us has never been easier. Visit MaconIndustries.com or connect with our Dawson team directly to talk through your operation.

The start of the season is usually when everything runs at its best. Then, almost without noticing, recovery begins to slip. Maybe production slows slightly. Gold recovery isn't quite where it was a few weeks ago. Operators start making small adjustments to compensate, but the numbers never seem to recover completely.

More often than not, the problem isn't a single major failure. It's a series of small operational issues that build up over time. Screen media wears. Spray bars begin to plug. Feed rates become inconsistent. Material starts bypassing where it shouldn't. Even routine wear on pumps, hoses, or moving components can gradually reduce the efficiency of your entire recovery circuit.

The good news is that most mid-season recovery losses are preventable with regular inspections and proactive maintenance.

Taking the time to monitor equipment performance, inspect wear components, and address small issues before they become larger ones helps keep your wash plant operating at peak efficiency throughout the season.

At Macon Industries, we design equipment that's built for long-term reliability, but even the best machinery performs its best when it's properly maintained.

A little preventative maintenance today can make a big difference by the end of the season.

Choosing the right feeder system for your wash plant isn't just about moving material. It directly affects production efficiency, equipment longevity, and how consistently your operation performs throughout the season.

The wrong configuration can create bottlenecks, increase maintenance requirements, and limit your plant's overall capacity. That's exactly why we put together our Technical White Paper, Comparison of Washplant Feeder Options. It breaks down the strengths and ideal applications of the most common feed systems used in placer mining, helping operators understand which solution best matches their ground conditions, production goals, and operating style.

Inside the paper, we compare several feeder options while discussing material flow, surge capacity, maintenance considerations, equipment compatibility, and the operational advantages each system offers. Whether you're designing a brand-new wash plant or looking to improve an existing setup, having the right information upfront can save significant time and money in the field.

At Macon Industries, every wash plant is designed around the customer's operation rather than forcing the operation to fit a standard design. Selecting the right feeder is one of the most important decisions in building an efficient recovery system. Download the free white paper today and see which feeder option is best suited for your next project:
