35 years. 80 builds. One family.
It started with Bob and Marnie Clarke jumping off a realtor’s boat to get a closer look at a vacant property on the Joe River. They bought it that afternoon. They camped on the property for the first summer and built the dock by hand, wheeling in 55 tons of crib rock by wheelbarrow. The following summer, they moved into the 1,400-square-foot post-and-beam cottage they raised largely without power, with help from local trades, family and friends. That was the first Clarke build.
Since then: 80 more Builds. Cottages. Homes. Boathouses. Renovations. Estates and Lake Homes on the Big Three lakes and surrounding areas. Bob leads an internal management team of six, along with three lead carpentry crews. And Marnie manages the interior design direction, aligning materials, finishes, and functional details throughout the projects.
But the number that matters most to Bob and Marnie isn’t 80. It’s the fact that their daughter Kelcie, who spent her earliest summers at that Joe River cottage, has now built their own cottage on Little Whitefish Lake and is now raising her own family in the same Muskoka landscape that shaped her parents while working alongside of her parents in both the construction and real estate teams. Some of today’s calls come from the children of clients they built for twenty years ago.
