True or False? Carbon monoxide detectors are optional if you have a 𝗻𝗲𝘄 furnace.

❌ 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗲.

A new furnace can absolutely be safer and more efficient, but it does not remove the need for carbon monoxide detectors in your home. Carbon monoxide is colourless, odourless, and dangerous, which means you may not know there is a problem until it becomes serious.

Your furnace, fireplace, water heater, stove, or any fuel-burning appliance can potentially create carbon monoxide if something goes wrong.

Protect your family. Make sure you have working carbon monoxide detectors installed and test them regularly.

Thermostats should be placed near windows.

False. ❌

Windows can let in drafts, direct sunlight, and outside temperatures that throw off your thermostat’s reading. That means your heating and cooling system may work harder than it needs to, or not kick in when it should.

For the best comfort and efficiency, your thermostat should be installed on an interior wall, away from windows, doors, vents, and direct sunlight.

Small placement mistake, big comfort problem. 😜 Classic thermostat drama.
