On August 27, Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, together with the Province of British Columbia, celebrated the official opening of the Chun T’oh Whudujut Ancient Forest Interpretive Centre.

PRD Construction is proud to have worked alongside Lheidli T’enneh First Nation to help bring this remarkable project to life.

More than a building, the Interpretive Centre is a place for education, cultural connection and sharing the rich history and significance of the Ancient Forest. It's a space that will welcome visitors, encourage learning and help connect future generations with this extraordinary part of Northern BC.

We're grateful to have played a role in creating a space with such lasting importance to the community.

Take a look at some of the highlights from this special celebration!

Construction is rarely quiet, but did you know there are rules about when certain types of work can take place?

Construction noise regulations vary from one community to another, with many municipalities setting specific hours for louder activities, particularly in residential areas. These restrictions can also differ between weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays.

Activities like jackhammering, pile driving and demolition can generate significant noise, which is why planning ahead is an important part of managing a construction site. Scheduling louder tasks during permitted hours, using noise barriers where appropriate and considering quieter construction methods can all help reduce the impact on surrounding neighbourhoods.

At PRD Construction, we understand that our work doesn't happen in isolation. Whether we're working in a busy commercial area or near residential properties, we make every effort to minimize unnecessary disruptions while keeping our projects moving forward.

Good construction practices aren't just about what happens inside the job site. They're also about respecting the communities around us.

Progress is taking shape at Anytime Fitness on the Hart Highway.

PRD Construction is currently completing an interior renovation that will transform the fitness studio into a fresh, modern and welcoming space for members to train and work toward their goals.

Interior renovations are about more than updating how a space looks. They’re about making an existing space work better for the people who use it every day.

We’re proud to be part of creating spaces that support active, healthy communities, and we look forward to sharing more as the renovation continues.

As the seasons change, so do the conditions on the job site.

Fall can bring muddy ground, wet leaves, shorter daylight hours, cooler mornings and weather that can change quickly. For crews working to finish major summer projects or get new builds weather-tight before winter, staying aware of those changing conditions is an important part of working safely.

That means checking fall protection equipment before wet weather sets in, keeping walkways, scaffolds and ladder bases clear of leaves, mud and debris, and dressing in layers that can adjust to changing temperatures without interfering with equipment.

It also means being ready for those sudden fall winds by securing loose materials, tarps and temporary structures, and keeping an eye on changing site conditions throughout the day.

Every season brings different challenges. Paying attention to the details and adapting to the conditions helps keep everyone on site safer as we head toward another Northern BC winter.

Tomorrow, September 30, the PRD Construction team will wear orange in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

We remember the children who never returned home, honour the Survivors of residential schools, and recognize the families and communities who continue to carry the impacts of this painful history.

Reconciliation requires more than acknowledgement. It requires listening, learning and a continued commitment to meaningful action.

As a team that works alongside Indigenous communities throughout Northern BC, we recognize the importance of building relationships grounded in truth, respect and understanding, tomorrow and throughout the year.

A lot has changed since work began on the new TC Energy building in January.

Our crews have been busy with the civil groundwork, preparing the site and laying the foundation for what’s ahead. From ground level, it can be hard to see just how much work goes into this stage of a project, but the view from above tells the story.

Thanks to our Site Superintendent, Kelly, for capturing these great aerial shots and giving us a different look at the progress taking shape on site.

We’re looking forward to sharing more as this project continues to move forward.

When you look up at a skyscraper, you probably don't imagine it moving. But a little movement is actually part of the design.

Tall buildings are engineered with enough flexibility to respond to forces like strong winds and seismic activity. Rather than remaining completely rigid, the structure can move slightly, helping reduce stress and the potential for damage.

In some of the world's tallest buildings, engineers take things even further. Tuned mass dampers, essentially enormous weights installed high within a building, can move in the opposite direction of the structure to help reduce sway. Taipei 101 is a well-known example, with a massive steel damper weighing more than 700 metric tonnes.

Before construction even begins, scale models can also be tested in wind tunnels to see how a proposed building will respond under different conditions. Engineers consider not only structural safety, but how that movement will feel to the people inside.

The taller we build, the more important controlling that movement becomes. It's a great example of how thoughtful engineering allows a structure to work with the forces around it instead of simply trying to resist them.

PRD Construction Ltd. was proud to sponsor the Stellat’en First Nation Administration Annual Salmon Festival, held August 26 to 28.

The festival brings the community together with friends and visitors to celebrate culture, tradition, and connection. Our team was grateful to join the celebrations on August 26 and spend some time with the community.

One of the highlights was watching community members learn how to cut and hang salmon at the community smokehouse, sharing knowledge and traditions that continue to be passed from one generation to the next.

Thank you to the Stellat’en First Nation for welcoming us and inviting PRD to be part of this year’s celebration. We were honoured to support the festival and look forward to joining you again next year.
