We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michaël Flaviano as Vice-President, Infrastructure Market.

Mr. Flaviano holds a degree in civil engineering and urban planning from INSA Lyon. He brings more than 25 years of experience in civil engineering, infrastructure and major project delivery in Europe and Canada. Since 2015, he has held several leadership roles within Colas Canada, from British Columbia to Québec. Most recently, he served as President and CEO of Sintra where he led the reorganization of the company's operations across Québec, which resulted in the creation of Colas Québec.

This appointment is part of Norda Stelo’s growth plan. Mr. Flaviano has extensive experience in executing large-scale projects and in business development. His hands-on leadership will support our teams as we work together to further develop the infrastructure market and strengthen our presence in our strategic regions across Canada and abroad.

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we take a moment to recognize and honour the history, cultures and lived realities of First Peoples.

Above all, this day is a time for remembrance and truth. It invites us to acknowledge the violence, injustices and losses experienced by Indigenous Peoples, particularly those associated with the residential school system, as well as the impacts that continue to be felt today by individuals, families and communities.

At Norda Stelo, we acknowledge this reality and the importance of contributing, in our own way, to the journey toward reconciliation. Our commitment to First Nations is reflected in the work we continue and renew with communities, driven by a desire to build relationships grounded in listening, respect, trust and collaboration.

Reconciliation begins with listening and acknowledgement. It calls on us to learn about the histories, perspectives and cultures of First Peoples, while also reflecting on our role, both individually and collectively, in building more respectful and equitable relationships.

For several years, our teams have been supporting the Port de Sept-Îles in the reconstruction of the Monseigneur-Blanche terminal.

From the initial inspection and risk analysis to the studies, design, plans and specifications, and on-site work supervision, this project mobilizes Norda Stelo’s multidisciplinary expertise at every stage.

The work notably included the reconstruction and heightening of the terminal, the installation of more than 500 metres of riprap and concrete walls, as well as the construction of three dolphins designed for the berthing and mooring of tugboats operating in Sept-Îles Bay.

Congratulations to all the teams involved in this major project and thank you to the Port of Sept-Îles for its trust.

From August 23 to 28, our colleague, Lingqing Yao, will participate in the 24th Annual Conference of the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences (IAMG), which will take place in Montréal, Canada.

During this event, Lingqing will co-host the presentation "Recent Developments in Geological Modeling: Beyond Conventional Methods" where he will introduce how artificial intelligence, multiple-point statistics (MPS), and other methods have significantly enhanced 3D geological modeling, overcoming the limitations caused by sparse data and complex shapes.

Norda Stelo is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a mandate by the Société québécoise des infrastructures to support the construction of the new ferry terminal at the Port of Gros-Cacouna as part of the Bas-Saint-Laurent–Charlevoix project.

This project aims to establish a new ferry infrastructure to ensure the river connection between Saint-Siméon and Cacouna.

Built on a collaborative approach involving stakeholders and the client, the project brings together several areas of expertise, including environment, architecture, civil engineering, and building engineering.

In this context, Norda Stelo is responsible for the marine and heavy industrial mechanics components, including hydraulic studies, the design of marine structures and lifting systems, as well as construction supervision.

This project illustrates the value of multidisciplinary approaches in delivering sustainable infrastructure tailored to the realities of riverside communities.
