An article by Didier Raoult and colleagues, titled "Hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin as a treatment of COVID-19: results of an open-label non-randomized clinical trial," has been retracted from International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents over ethical and scientific concerns. Originally cited by 3,862 studies, the retraction comes more than four years after its publication, highlighting the critical importance of rigorous scientific standards and ethics in research.
