During a recent interview with Bodycad, Dr. Michael Alaia shared his perspective on how surgeons can benefit from patient-specific osteotomy technology.
“I think that any surgeon at any time in their practice can benefit from Bodycad technology. It could be a surgeon who has done one osteotomy in their entire life and wants to do more, or it could be a surgeon with a complex knee practice that wants to titrate what they’re doing and combine that with complexity in terms of revising ACLs, revising meniscus transplants, etc.”
From surgeons looking to expand their osteotomy experience to specialists managing complex knee procedures, Bodycad combines patient-specific technology with high-touch planning, education, and procedural support.
Stay tuned for more insights from Dr. Alaia as part of Bodycad’s Surgeon Perspectives series.

Behind the Innovation at Bodycad: Meet Nicolas Rousseau

Innovation in personalized orthopedics extends beyond technology; it is equally defined by the expertise and collaboration of the teams behind each patient-specific solution.

We recently sat down with Nicolas Rousseau, R&D Engineer at Bodycad, to discuss the evolution of personalized orthopedic technology and what makes Bodycad’s approach different.

For Nicolas, one of Bodycad’s greatest strengths is the accessibility of the engineering team:

“We're a small team. We're accessible. If you reach out to the PrepTech or Engineer working on your case, you're speaking directly with the person designing it. That kind of direct communication makes all the difference when working with PSI.”

As orthopedic care continues to evolve, Nicolas also sees 3D planning playing an increasingly important role:

“The surgeons who use 3D measurements aren't going back to 2D. So I think that's where the industry is going.”

At Bodycad, technology and engineering expertise come together to support a highly personalized approach to orthopedic care, with human collaboration at the center of each case.

No two patients have exactly the same anatomy. At Bodycad, that is the foundation of our approach to Personalized Restoration™.

“Every patient is unique, and we believe their orthopedic care should reflect that. At Bodycad, our goal is to give surgeons the technology, tools, and support they need to deliver a solution designed around the individual patient to ultimately improve patient outcomes.'
Geoffroy Rivet-Sabourin, CEO, Bodycad

By combining patient-specific technology with close collaboration between surgeons and our team, Bodycad is advancing an orthopedic care approach built around the individual patient.

As we wrap up our step‑by‑step case series, here’s a look back at the key steps behind the Bodycad planning process.

1️⃣ Imaging
CT scans are converted into 3D models and paired with long‑standing X‑rays for planning.

2️⃣ Design
Patient‑specific guides and plates are designed around the planned correction.

3️⃣ Communication & Approval
Surgeons review and approve the case plan in Preplink™ before manufacturing begins.

4️⃣ Manufacturing & QC
Guides are 3D printed, plates are built, and every component goes through quality control before being assembled into a procedure‑ready kit.
A connected workflow designed around patient‑specific planning, from first image to procedure‑ready kit.
