"We need our children to have a strong foundation. A healthy meal is one of the best ways to give them a good start to their day. It helps make sure they're healthy, able to participate, and ready to learn. When you take care of people's basic needs, you're creating opportunities. People don't have to focus only on getting by. They can focus on education, goals, and things they may have thought were out of reach. Healthier communities are what we strive for. We want to make sure our communities are safe and that people are taken care of. A great place to start is with our children. I'm a teacher by trade, and I've spent most of my adult life working with children and youth. That's why this work is important to me. Every child deserves the opportunity to start their day with a healthy meal. It's one small part of building a strong foundation for a healthy future."
- In recognition of World Food Day on October 16, Pujjuut Kusugak, Agnico Eagle's Director of Nunavut Affairs and Breakfast Champion, reflects on the importance of helping children start their day with a healthy meal. Through a renewed five-year partnership between Agnico Eagle and Breakfast Club of Canada, supported by a $5 million contribution from Agnico Eagle, efforts continue to strengthen student nutrition programs and build a sustainable model for Northern communities.
