Congratulations to our Founder and Past President, Leon Friesen, on receiving an Honorary Degree in Applied Studies from Saskatchewan Polytechnic.

As a journeyperson carpenter and proud Sask Polytech alumnus, Leon has dedicated his career to advancing the construction industry in Saskatchewan and across Canada. From co-founding Westridge Construction and helping grow it into one of the province’s leading contractors to supporting apprenticeship training, curriculum development, and industry organizations, his contributions have helped shape the future of the skilled trades.

This honour recognizes a lifetime of leadership, service, and commitment to the construction profession. It is a fitting tribute to someone whose influence can be seen not only in the projects he helped build, but in the industry and communities he has helped strengthen along the way.

Congratulations to our Founder and Past President, Leon Friesen, on being recognized as one of five recipients of The Regina 25 Mentor Award.

For 37 years, Leon has poured his knowledge, time, and leadership into Westridge, not because he had to, but because mentoring others is simply who he is.

His impact reaches far beyond a single individual. It lives in the apprentices who became journeypersons, the coordinators who became project managers, the employees who became shareholders, and in the culture of trust, growth, and opportunity that defines Westridge today.

Leon’s mentorship has shaped countless careers and left a lasting mark on our company, our people, and our community.

This recognition is incredibly well deserved, and we’re proud to see Leon celebrated for what we have always known - great leaders build more than companies, they build people.

In honour of Earth Day yesterday, our field crews and office team rolled up their sleeves to support a community clean-up in North Central Regina

It was a great day of teamwork, working alongside others who care about keeping our streets and alleyways clean and safe. Together, we filled four 6 yard bins with garbage and served tons of coffee to the community throughout the day.

A big thank you to Tim Hortons for keeping everyone fueled, Loraas Disposal for providing bins, and to the teams from RSC Cleaning, SCSA, and Ray Gosselin Architect for lending a hand.

Westridge recently completed the Colliers Office Fit-Up on the 8th floor of Avord Tower in downtown Regina.

This 8,800 sq. ft. tenant improvement transformed a vacant floor into a clean, modern workspace with a mix of private offices, open areas, meeting rooms, and a central boardroom.

Subtle curved glass features and architectural details help create a more open and cohesive environment, while acoustic ceiling treatments and a flexible wall system add practical functionality to the space.
