📝 It's been a while since my last blog post, but I've finally got a new one!

Power Pages: Bulk Edit Interface Using Custom Code

In my last post, I showed how to add multiselect functionality to a Power Pages List. This time, I'm taking the next step: actually doing something with those selected records.

I built a custom bulk edit interface that opens in a Bootstrap 5 modal and uses the Power Pages Web API to update all of the selected records.

I also share how I used AI to help build the solution—including where the Power Pages Copilot got things wrong and where ChatGPT helped get it across the finish line.

⚾ My Google Alert for Power Pages has been a little confused lately.

I set it up expecting news about Microsoft Power Pages.

Instead, I got an update about Dodgers star Andy Pages being injured. 😂

Not exactly the Power Pages news I was looking for.

And as a Blue Jays fan, I'm still hurting from last year's World Series loss to the Dodgers, so Google reminding me about Dodgers players isn't helping.

Although, to be clear, I was hoping for Power Pages news—not an Andy Pages injury!

Google Alerts might need a little more context. 😄

🚨 Common Mistakes Monday: "We'll Just Make It Read-Only with JavaScript"

There's a field on a Power Pages form that users should be able to see, but shouldn't be able to change.

Easy:

> "We'll just make it read-only with JavaScript."

That might stop someone from changing the value through the form, but JavaScript runs in the browser—and the browser is controlled by the user.

A determined user can remove the read-only restriction and manipulate the value before submitting the form.

If it's really important that a user can't change a value, don't rely on JavaScript to enforce it.

✅ JavaScript is great for controlling the user experience.

✅ Important restrictions should be enforced server-side.

Read-only in the browser doesn't mean read-only to the server.
