Good tile work starts long before the first tile is installed.

In less than a minute, I’m showing one of the most important parts of any installation: proper preparation.

Before the uncoupling membrane goes down, we prime the plywood substrate. It’s a simple step, but one that helps improve adhesion, lock down surface dust, and create a better bonding surface for the mortar.

Most failures don’t happen because of what you see. They happen because of what was skipped underneath.

When you’re installing 48” x 48” porcelain, every layer matters. The foundation of a successful installation is built during the prep work, not on installation day.

Anyone can admire the finished product. Craftsmanship is found in the steps most people never see.

Pure epoxy.
Most people see the finished result.

Very few understand what it takes to replace traditional grout with pure epoxy.

This isn’t epoxy grout. This is the same epoxy system we use on our mitered edges, custom color-matched and installed by hand to create an seamless transition between tile and joint.

The process starts long before the epoxy is mixed. Starts removing the bevel of the tile then Every grout line must be cleaned and free of any dust or mortar residue… contamination and how deep u go, can compromise adhesion. Then every edge is carefully taped to protect the tile surface. Mixing is another challenge—resin, hardener, and pigments must be measured precisely every single time. Even small inconsistencies can affect the final color and finish.

And unlike traditional grout colors that come ready-made, pure epoxy requires custom color matching. You need to understand the material and know how to build the color from scratch to make the joints visually disappear.

The reward?

✔ Non-porous and highly stain resistant
✔ Waterproof surface
✔ No sealer required
✔ Exceptional durability
✔ Seamless appearance when color-matched correctly
✔ The same finish and texture as the epoxy used on the miters

It’s a much slower process, but craftsmanship is often found in the details most people never notice.

Done right, the grout lines disappear, leaving the stone or porcelain to speak for itself. ✌️🙏🇨🇦

A window sill inside a shower is one of those details that has to be done right.

Before a single tile goes in, everything is fully waterproofed using Ardex 8+9. From there, every mitered corner is epoxy reinforced. During installation, we intentionally leave space behind the miters to allow the epoxy to fully lock everything together from the inside out.

What you see here might look simple, but it’s one of the more demanding parts of the process. Epoxy has a limited working time, so every step must be planned and executed with precision. Once the hardener is mixed, there is no room for hesitation.

The difference between a good result and a failed installation often comes down to process, timing, and attention to detail.

Built to look seamless. Built to last.

Epoxy brand used: Superior.
Boards and waterproofing system: Ardex

Finishing up the niche shelf today.

Fabricated from the same 48” x 48” porcelain tile used on the floors and walls, keeping everything seamless. The natural stone feature in the back of the niche adds beautiful movement, and once the LED lighting is installed, it’s going to make that stone glow ❤️.

Every miter is epoxy reinforced, and all finishes throughout this primary ensuite are epoxy-based. 🙏

Large-format 5’ x 10’ porcelain slabs create a seamless foyer, while the contrasting border adds depth, definition, and visual interest, enhancing the overall design of the space.
U barely see the transition between slabs , thanks to our process, Grout delete. 100% pure epoxy between the slabs 🙏.
