Local Lodge 16 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers is an affiliate of District Lodge 140 and was chartered on 1 October, 1998. Sometimes we are better known as either the “IAM” or “The Machinists”. We represent over 1500 working men and women in the air transportation sector in B.C. Local Lodge 16 represent aircraft mechanics, ground handlers, cabin services agents
, customer service agents, air terminal services and pre-board screeners. Changes in our industry happen quickly and continuously, 9/11. Privatization of airports, mergers of companies and global alliances of the largest transportation companies in the world drive the need for worker protection. The best protection and service to the workers in our industry is achieved under coordinated efforts from the transportation community as a whole; but not pitting workers from various companies against each other. The Machinists Union page was created to encourage open discussion about issues important to IAM members. We respectfully ask everyone to honor the following guidelines when commenting on this page.
