It is with tremendous sadness, that I tell everyone who reads these blogs, that our one and only Darryl has passed away. With his birthday only a few days away, he has suddenly left us far too soon.
LaPorte Moving is a family owned and operated company, that's a simple fact. However with that distinction comes the responsibility that there will be some people who have come into the yard and put on a LaPorte shirt... that didn't just work with us... they also became part of our family too. Darryl did just that.
He came to us many years ago, as the chosen right hand man to Chad. Along with Mike House those three were one of our top teams for a number of years. Later on he went over to assist Mike J and gave it his all to help him out. In the last few years, he was always ready and willing to go out on the road with Ken, no matter how far the destination. I always appreciated that Darryl was one of those rare guys that could work with almost anyone.
There have been a great number of amazing and interesting people like Darryl that have put the LaPorte shirt on, that will always be remembered. In the yard there will be stories told and laughs had. Quirky as he was, he was dependable and steady. Funny in his dry way, never silly. He watched his money, but at the same time he was also generous to those closest around him.
Believe me when I say that Darryl will be deeply missed. Our hearts go out to Irene, to his family, to all of his friends, which is including all of us. Cbass, I can say with honesty that I know what its like to lose your best friend. It doesn't get much worse.
Cheers and tears to you Darryl. Some will play a round of golf in your memory. Some will think of you when they watch a Canucks game. You have left all of us with many lasting memories my friend. We thank you for that.
