Well the hand tamper I ordered arrived... I was looking at renting a compactor and saw the pricing and almost s**t my pants... A little hard work but well worth the effort. Compacted what I had laid down, gave it two passes overlapping everywhere. Added another inch to the top and then some more smacking...got a good sweat worked up, but we're ready for rebar and feet 😎

Finally! Got some crush stone delivered, so we can keep chipping away. Takes quite a few wheelbarrow loads to get the right amount of gravel, but we'll get there!
Got the form all together and leveled. Just waiting on the tamper to arrive and I can start to compact my stone!

Getting ready to do some Concrete! I've gotten rid of all organic matter that will cause the terrain to change as it decomposes, so that will help mitigate ground shift. Next I'll attach my form to the exterior foundation to help keep everything level and tight, add an isolation joint between the house and pad. Then we can add our crush stone base making sure to compact as we go, set our rebar and get ready for the pour! 116" x 20'3" concrete pad for the entrance way! Gonna look great! Gonna enclose the front porch before the winter!

Well it's been 3 years in the making. Some progress has been made, 99% of the siding is done. I have some small damage to repair in the back. A few little pieces to put up on the dormers and we'll be completed. A bunch of plans in the works still, so keep a lookout !! The dream isn't dead, just slightly different than originally planned 😎

Plastering is really starting to come along, all the joints are taped on the main level minus the extension, ( have some plans for the extension to come) my skill in terms of plastering and taping has come a long way as well, finding myself using minimal plaster, for minimal sanding, building it up in a few coats so it dries quickly and evenly seems to be key!

Siding is looking great this year! It has really transformed the house 🏡 😎

Back to more shenanigans. Primed and painted. Old plywood that was warped on the floor was removed. 3/8 OSB put down to re-level the floor and get that wonkyness out. All that's left to do is the new flooring and some trim around the windows!

Still chipping away at the siding 😅 it's a big house haha but close to completion!
