Our latest Spec-Dor project for the US Navy features a bottom-rolling steel hangar door with a dedicated tail cut-out infill (with it's own sliding door just for the cut-out) - and it's a retrofit! Operators get precise partial openings, climate control, and full façade closure when the aircraft is inside - without oversizing the building. Spec-Dor's latest newsletter explains how hangar door type choice is largely driven by size and usage. In sum, Bifold doors work well for smaller hangars up to about 48 feet wide, while bottom rolling doors are better suited for large, high-use hangars 80 feet wide or more, offering scalability, clearance, and structural efficiency.
